I'm having a difficult time figuring out what to say about this book. I had a deeply personal reaction to it, that I won't go into on the internet. This might be the only book I've read that made me cry a full day after I read it, just by thinking about it. I had a publisher rep recommend this book to me, and even though I have hundreds of books on my To Read shelves (yes, plural) I bought it (in hardback even!) the next day I went in to work. I'm so glad I did. This is a great read, no matter who you are. It touches on gender, race, class, and even more, in order to illustrate how similar we all are, and yet how unique each life can be. I'll be recommending it heartily. If you're on the fence about this one I urge you to take a chance on it.
