I don't read a lot of Young Adult books, but I wanted to read this one because I love Lauren Oliver so much. I had oral surgery so it seemed like a good time for some easy reading. This was a good choice.
I'd recommend this book to kids who enjoyed Alice in Wonderland, the Oz books, or Coraline. Or even Labyrinth with David Bowie. It was a fun blend of all of the above. A creative and fun little adventure as a girl travels Below to rescue her little brother. The real charm of this book lies in Oliver's ability to capture childhood imagination and creativity.
Thumbs up on this one. I'd give it more stars, but as I said, kid's books aren't really my thing. So take the rating at face value. If you're looking for a good kid's book this one fits the bill, so long as your kids aren't too afraid of monsters.
