Crossed
I read Matched several years ago (I had an ARC), so it took me a while to get into this story (it jumped right in). Once I started remembering the characters, their lives, and the world, I was sucked in anew. One of the things I like the most about Condie's writing is how lyrical she can be. And have I mentioned the color thing? Everything is red, green, and blue. It's a motif that is working really well for her. (And I love the covers for these books, and the use of the RGB color scheme, so much.) I think in colors and poetry when I read these, which are two of the biggest elements explored throughout. While I didn't adore the action and setting in this book as much as the first, I very much enjoyed looking at the world through Condie's lens once more. Can't wait to hear her speak in a few weeks!(
