The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian
I read this book because I will be handing it out for World Book Night 2012.
This was a super quick read. The language, subject matter, and heart of this story is all very much aimed at teens, yet somehow it felt more young than that. Perhaps it was the cartoons interspersed. I think I would have preferred it if the illustrations were sketches instead, as they are in a few places. The cartoons kept me distanced. On the plus side I liked the voice and the humor. The overall themes of race and poverty were not new to me, but they were explored deftly.
