This is a tense, creepy, and well assembled puzzle box of a book. I'm not generally a fan of mysteries, but I picked this book up with rather high expectations because a) I thought the premise of a time traveling serial killer was really intriguing and b) I quite enjoyed Beukes' book Zoo City, and was looking forward to giving her another whirl. I was not disappointed. The writing was excellent, the story was engrossing, and the characters interesting. Beukes does a great job of capturing so many different times and individuals. If you're in the mood for an unsettling read with vivid ideas and scenes, then give this one a whirl.
